Trail Talk: It's okay to not be okay 💚

Trail Talk | October 2026

Hello you lot! October's properly here, the head torches are out, and this week's got a bit of everything, from mental health and fundraising to half marathon heroes and some exciting new adventures. Here's what's going on.

It's okay to not be okay 💚
Saturday is World Mental Health Day, and England Athletics are back with their #RunAndTalk campaign, calling running clubs safe spaces where it's okay to be not okay. Which is pretty much the whole point of our debriefs, that bit after the miles where someone admits the week's been rubbish and nobody flinches. So this week, ask someone how they're actually doing, then wait a beat longer for the real answer.
Running for CALM
On this note, Run Leader Adam is fundraising for CALM, the Campaign Against Living Miserably, a suicide prevention charity whose helpline and webchat are open 5pm to midnight every day. He is running at least a mile a day for 100 days. Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50 in the UK, which I can't really sit with very well, so let's get behind them. Donate here.
Half marathon heroes 🏅
Huge shout out to Helen, who took on the Cardiff Super Half, and Ollie, who smashed the Harwich Half. Two halves in one weekend, absolute legends.
Lake District Run Camp, 7th to 10th May 2027 ⛰️
Four days of Lakeland 50 and 100 recces and mountain miles. If you're not participating in that race, you're absolutely still welcome. Guided runs, accommodation, all your meals and workshops are included, it's open to everyone, and members get a discount. Only 16 spots though, and people on the waitlist will have 48 hours to book before everyone else, so when it drops, don't blink.
See you on the trails,
