"Spent so many years being overtrained and this feels great; like I still have the flexibility to do other fun things within the programme too, without feeling like I’m damaging my progress."

I joined Ipswich Trail Runners in August 2025, and shortly afterwards I began being coached by Emma. My goals weren’t limited to running alone; they included overall fitness ambitions, from completing 50 mile races to preparing for a six-week ski touring trip, and everything in between.

I’ve had a running coach before, but the experience didn’t feel personalised or fully tailored to my needs. Emma’s coaching is anything but generic.

She checks in regularly and adapts my weekly training schedule around work and life commitments. Whether I’m in a different part of the country or don’t have access to a gym that week, she adjusts my plan accordingly — all while continuing to push me towards my goals.

My fitness has improved dramatically, and I’m now taking on the challenge of two 50-mile races thanks to Emma’s support and coaching

After previous unsuccessful attempts at running, I realised I needed a different approach. Finding Emma and Ipswich Trail Runners was that turning point. I’ve honestly had every app you can think of, but this has been the only thing to work.

Emma took the time to understand not only my running ability, but other health factors and personal concerns. She created a fully tailored training plan designed specifically for me, going far beyond a standard running programme.

Her knowledge is incredible, but it’s her passion that truly stands out. My goal of running 5K meant just as much to her as someone else’s 100-miler.

Her program and support has given me the confidence to now aim for a 10K.

I couldn’t be happier with my progress and the support I’ve had. Thank you Emma.

Meet your coach

Hi, I’m Emma, founder of Ipswich Trail Runners, England Athletics Endurance Coach, and UESCA Ultrarunning Coach. I started this community to make trail running more welcoming, supportive, and fun for everyone, no matter your pace or experience.

I’m fully qualified, with plenty of trail running and racing experience under my belt. Most recently, I took 1st place (3rd overall) at the Five Rivers Ultra in 2025. I know what it’s like to juggle training with real life, and I believe in finding balance, confidence, and enjoyment in the process.

My coaching style is all about encouragement, flexibility, and helping you reach your goals at your own pace. Whether you’re aiming for your first 5k, a big mountain adventure, or just want to feel stronger on the trails, I’m here to support you with expert guidance and a genuinely friendly approach.
